Server logfiles

Part of is website uses Piwik (Global Freshwater Biodiversity Atlas, atlas.freshwaterbiodiversity.eu), an open-source web analytics software. Piwik/atlas.freshwaterbiodiversity.eu will always respect your privacy. Piwik uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the website (including your IP address) is anonymized prior to its storage. The information will be safed on a server at the IGB, Berlin, Germany. Absolute no personalized information will be stored. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

User registration and login

For using the full services of the Global Freshwater Biodiversity Atlas we offer to register yourself by sending an email with your contact details. This registration information (name, email) is collected and stored solely for the use of our offer. By registering on the Atlas website, we further store the date and time of your registration. This serves as a hedge on our part in the event that a third party abuses your data and registers with this data without your knowledge. A comparison of these data with other data which might be collected by other components of the Freshwater Information Platform does not take place.
