BioFresh will produce a wide range of products. One of them is, to build a freshwater biodiversity information platform (data portal) to bring together, and make publicly available, the vast amount of information on freshwater biodiversity currently scattered among a wide range of databases.

By doing so, what was once widely dispersed and largely inaccessible information will be made available to policy makers, scientists, planners and practitioners. BioFresh will provide spatially-explicit information on the status and trends of freshwater biodiversity and its ecosystem services.

An other product of BioFresh is the so called metadatabase. The establishment of the metadatabase started in January 2010. Currently - in its latest version - the metadatabase holds meta information from about 40 background databases.
